School Communicator of the Year Award

About the Award

The WSPRA School Communicator of the Year Award celebrates active, front-line school communicators who demonstrate excellence in strategic leadership, effective communication, professional growth, and community engagement. Nominations include essays, letters of recommendation, and supporting materials, with honorees selected for their ability to represent the profession with the highest standards of skill and integrity.

Nomination Process

To nominate someone for the School Communicator of the Year Award, please complete the nomination form

The form collects information including:

  • Name of the person you are nominating and their contact information.
  • Narratives describing the following:
    • Leadership: How does the nominee demonstrate leadership in successfully meeting the communication needs of their school system or educational service agency? (Up to 500 words)
    • Communication: How does the nominee demonstrate strength in both personal and organizational communication? (Up to 500 words)
    • Professionalism: How does the nominee demonstrate a commitment to constant improvement of knowledge and skills, while providing professional development opportunities and mentoring to others. (Up to 500 words)
    • Community Involvement: How does the nominee demonstrate active participation in their local community activities and an understanding of regional, national, and international issues. (Up to 500 words)
  • Optional: Short testimonial statements from others who endorse the nomination (limited to an additional 1,000 words).

Nominations are due by Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025, at 5:00 pm.

The individual who nominates the School Communicator of the Year Award winner will be notified in advance of the WSPRA annual conference. The WSPRA board will work with the nominator to ensure the winner is in attendance at the award presentation.
