About Shayla Cannady

Shayla Cannady is the Senior Manager of Public Relations for Orange County Public Schools, the fourth largest school district in Florida and eighth largest in the nation.

Shayla is responsible for maintaining the district’s brand identity; implementing strategic communications plans; and events to increase internal and external knowledge, awareness and appreciation of the district and school operations.

As part of the Marketing and Events team, she oversees the Public Relations and Graphics unit that produces executive speeches and scripts, district publications, and graphic design and production.

Shayla joined Orange County Public Schools in May 2015 as a Senior Specialist of Public Relations. Prior to that, she worked for four years as an account executive for Massey Communications in Orlando, creating effective and dynamic campaigns through advertising, design, public relations and strategic marketing.

She is president of the Sunshine State Public Relations Association, a member of the National School Public Relations Association Equity Taskforce and among the 2018-19 NSPRA 35 Under 35 recipients.

Shayla earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in photography/graphic design from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. She also has a Master of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of Central Florida, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Strategic Communications at UCF.
