WSPRA Earns Mark of Distinction
WASHINGTON SHINES IN NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
The 2020-21 WSPRA Board recently earned the highly-coveted Mark of Distinction from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for its work in providing a Virtual Professional Development series for its members.
Facing one of the most difficult years in school public relations, the WSPRA Board had to adapt to restrictions surrounding in-person meetings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Determined to continue providing professional development opportunities for its members, the Board quickly responded and launched a 60-minute virtual professional development event on June 5, 2020. Following a successful virtual event, the Board revamped their plans for the entire year and converted all of their in-person conferences to a virtual format. These events occurred more frequently than in previous years in a format that met the restrictions set by the Governor.
These virtual opportunities had a direct impact on registration as over 100 people registered for the professional development series. More importantly, members remained engaged in the chat, asked questions and interacted with presenters, and had 100% of responders report the event met their expectations and that they wanted more virtual learning opportunities in the future. During one of the hardest years in school district public relations, WSPRA listened to its members who stated they were feeling isolated and stressed with the strict stay-at-home order and increased demands in the workplace and met their needs.
Please join us in congratulating the 2020-21 WSPRA Board on this wonderful achievement.

ABOUT THE MARK OF DISTINCTION AWARD
The Mark of Distinction program offers multiple recognition opportunities for NSPRA chapters of all sizes. There are two entry sections: membership building and special focus areas. Each eligible chapter can enter for one or all of the special focus areas as well as for membership building.
Through the program, recognized "exemplary chapters" have an opportunity to receive incentives such as discounts on Seminar and pre-Seminar workshop registrations, free PR Power Hours and other offerings. Recognized chapters also can use the Mark of Distinction logo, naming them as an exemplary chapter, on their chapters' websites, newsletters and stationery.
