Vote For Your Next WSPRA Board

Vote It's time to vote for your next WSPRA Board. The deadline to vote is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26. The new board will be introduced at the state conference awards dinner on May 2.

President Message

WSPRA Members,

It has been my honor and privilege to serve on the WSPRA Board. As our nominating committee worked to prepare a ballot to present you for next year’s board, this has been one of many points in the year that I am reminded just how grateful I am for this opportunity.

Beyond answering questions from those interested in serving on the board, one of my roles as your WSPRA President is to have conversations with those nominated for a position or that expressed interest in running for a position. This includes conversations with current board members who wish to continue serving in the same role or in a new role.

Our membership has increased by 12% this year. It was no surprise that the number of questions and nominees also rose, far above what it has been in years past. The demands of our day-to-day work have also increased as many of us have been asked to do more with less facing current or impending staff and budget reductions. The demands expand each year, engaging with increasingly diverse and changing communities, responding to social media which never shuts down, all while keeping our focus on supporting students to graduate as globally competitive, lifelong learners. This calling of ours makes work-life balance sometimes seem out of reach. As leaders, we must know when to say no, and it is not always easy. To those that were nominated and those that considered running but said, "No. No, thank you. Not right now,” thank you for your leadership. We will contact you next year.

Please do take time to review and consider the members on the ballot. While the final ballot does not have more than one person in each position, we do want to know if you have any concerns, so you can choose not to accept the candidate presented. Thank you for voting and thank you for choosing to be part of WSPRA.

We look forward to seeing you in Leavenworth, May 1-3!

Kind Regards,

Melissa Laramie Signature
