2020 Annual Conference Canceled
The WSPRA Board is so proud of your dedication these last few weeks as our state deals with an unprecedented health crisis. Each one of you rose to the occasion, supported one another, and put students and families first. School communication professionals across North America are looking to you as the experts and for guidance. We could not be more proud of our members.
As a Board, we had been closely monitoring the situation in regards to our annual conference, and with state-wide closure of our schools, have made the decision to cancel the annual conference and postpone the awards program as well.
In regards to the awards program, given the current workload of fellow NSPRA members across the nation, judging has not taken place. We are committed to having the awards submissions judged and celebrated at a later date. We don't know yet what that looks like, but we will keep you posted.
These decisions were not made lightly. We are heartbroken to cancel this annual celebration and learning opportunity but we know this is the right decision. When we have reached our new normal and our focus can return to things outside of coronavirus, please be assured we will work to determine a path forward for both the annual conference and the awards program.
We want to commend The Enzian Inn for being a wonderful and gracious partner through this time. They are providing full refunds on rooms already reserved, and have allowed us to cancel our event with no financial repercussions. We will also be providing full refunds to everyone who has already registered.
We also want to thank our sponsors, who have been in communication with us all week and have been supportive of whatever decision we had to make.
Right now, our priority is supporting you—our members—as the coronavirus continues to impact our state and school communities.
A library of coronavirus resources is available online. Please email us if you have something you would like to add.
We are thinking of you all during this challenging time. Stay healthy and be well. Reach out if you need support. Know that we are all in this together.
